The Evil Red Dragon has planted light-sapping dark gems all over the Dragon Realms in an attempt to control the world. With the help of his allies, Spyro must seek out and destroy all the dark gems.

When in a dark world, Spyro needs to seek out the dark gems and destroy them to turn the area back into a happy place. The environments will then shift from evil to good before your eyes.. Enemies, sky, even the music will transform.

To help spread sweetness and light, Spyro is outfitted with new abilities, including the Horn Dive, Wall Kick, and Tail Swing. The Horn Dive is especially important for breaking up the dark gems and destroying items that have extra toughness. Also, Spyro uses powered-up breath attacks to fight enemies. In addition to his Flame Breath, he can deep-freezing enemies with Freeze Breath, wash them with Water Breath and zap them with Electric Breath.

Spyro knocks out the dark gems with a little help from his friends Hunter the Cheetah, Sgt. Byrd, Sparx the Dragonfly and new pal Blink the Mole. These characters help you collect dragon eggs and light crystals. Sgt. Byrd, for example, straps on a jet pack and missile system and must complete an airborne obstacle course. Bottom Line Spyro: A Hero's Tail is full of high-flying, 3D action. This latest Spyro platformer offering does justice to the franchise.
